Welcome, to the respite in your Storm. It's time to become the Hero in your life's journey! I'll be with you every step on the way! I'll guide you, mentor you, nurture you...I've been in your shoes and know the way.
As if living in the Silicon Valley is not stressful enough, NOW we have to worry about the pandemic, not shaking hands, social distancing, and worse of all NO TOILET PAPER! During this time, it is my opinion that we as people need to rely on ourselves to make sure we, our families and communities are ok. There are some, that I will call, from the woo woo community that feel that we are experiencing a dynamic shift in our reality. Some think...Well, I can go on and on, but let's get back to a sense of CAAAAALLLLM.
Remember the serenity prayer "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." This simple prayer from AA is meant to bring us back to sanity, and just look around there is PLENTY of insanity to go around. So that is my first point - focus on the things in your life that you can control. I urge you, my dear friends, to surrender that which is outside of your shopping cart. Be away, stay awake but do not over-identify with it...BECAUSE guess what - no matter what you CANNOT CONTROL IT! Give it to God, the universe, your higher power. Second - gain the wisdom to know the difference. This, I believe, is the key.
Finally, to bring yourself back to the present, try this exercise: Close your eyes (not while you are driving) and count your breathes. Your mind will begin to wander (do not get upset - it is designed to think! but the fact that you become aware of it is the good part) gently bring yourself back to counting breaths. This is free and can be repeated whenever you need.
The last piece I have is we all need someone to talk to and with. Although they encourage social isolation these days, that does not mean you should be isolated. In fact, that is the worst thing to be doing. You can do so virtually! I strongly encourage you to reach out, if not to me then to someone. I hope it is me because that is why I am here!
