The Danger of Not Living Your Truth
Today is May 13, 2020 - I, like you, have been in SIP since...well a while as I feel as if I've lost track of the time. During this time, like you, I have had lots of time to sit with myself and self-reflect. Just as I advocate for my clients, I am working on gaining clarity about myself - why you ask? Well as an empath I can, with all honesty, say that what was prior to the pandemic, will not be when this eventually passes. What I have discovered about myself is that I have been carrying layers of - well let's call it crap. For me, this comes in the form of extra weight. I realize that this is my protective layer to give me an excuse to be at odds with the rest of the world.
If we sit here and do nothing - being reactive - waiting for "things to get back to normal" is only staying in a stagnant space, and we deserve what we get. More of the same. Like I said, for me, this comes in the form of a protective layer of my belly. Ask yourself, what is it for you? what represents your stagnation in your life. I guess another way to express this would be to call it your comfort level. Some things that we find comfortable are healthy - I have a nice house to live in - I am not going to through that away as that would be incongruent with my life. The comfort level I am speaking of is that which feels comfortable but is really holding us back.
If we get off our fannys and be pro-active knowing that we can create a "new normal" then we dive into what Brene' Brown calls the arena. In the arena is where will do battle with the things and emotions that want us to stay put and do nothing! The arena is where we will allow ourselves to be vulnerable and make peace with these issues. Will we get our assess kicked around - you betcha! BUT it is in this process that we begin to shed the layers of crap and our true selves emerge...So I will ask a question I ask my clients...If you imagine this new life you want to create for yourself (or a piece of your life, new job, whatever it is for you) what do you see?
The victory comes when you reach the obstacle that tempts us to go back to being reactive and sitting in our comfort zones of crap! What really excites me is when I face these obstacles and map out a way around them (terrifying to be sure). That is the process I am going through right now because I don't know about you, but as scary as this pandemic is I am excited at the thought of recreating my part of the new reality that is emerging.
How will you face this session we are going through - I would love to hear from you...
